What Parents Think About Their Children
As parents, nothing matters to us more than the wellbeing of our children. We do everything we can to protect them, nurture them and give them the best opportunities in life. But in today’s ever-evolving world, our kids are growing up in a landscape vastly different to the one we experienced. From the relentless pressure to ace every test, get into the best schools, and rack up extracurricular wins just to compete in today’s job market, to the controversial nature of the digital era with constant comparison to others, information overload, and endless virtual distractions. Knowing how to support our children through these new stressors and expectations isn’t something we were prepared for. It’s instinct for many of us to swoop in and try and figure things out for them, showering them with advice and life lessons we wish we were given at their age. But often despite our best intentions, we find ourselves at a loss, unable to align our wisdom with their unique experiences. Accepting that some of their struggles are beyond our understanding and ability to fix is tough pill to swallow. It’s never easy watching your child go through hardship not knowing how to support them in the way they need.
But here’s the truth; our role as parents is not to rescue our children. It’s to empower them to figure things out for themselves.
Our Program Highlight
Over the last 8 years as a private tutor, I’ve had the privilege of supporting young learners with diverse abilities and learning needs throughout their academic journey.
Through this time I quickly realised that the academic challenges that my students presented with were often just the tip of the iceberg. I began to notice patterns and became deeply curious about why some students thrived while others seemed to struggle, despite having the same potential. It soon became clear that achieving their academic potential had nothing to do with their intelligence, natural talent, or social abilities.
Nor was it about enforcing strict revision timetables, bombarding them with practice tests, or teaching savvy revision hacks. The key to their success was simply nurturing their mindset.
Helping them develop the self belief and resilience needed to see that their abilities are not fixed. Understanding how they perceive mistakes and failure to understand the influence of this to their approach to learning and changing this so that they would be driven by ambition rather than fear.
Guiding them to develop the self-awareness required to understand It’s not just about finding the solution, it’s about the processes and tools required to get there. After witnessing firsthand the transformative power of nurturing a growth mindset in the academic realm, I was determined to extend this impact far beyond the classroom walls.
Thats why I developed New Horizon’s – my specialised coaching program developed to help children aged 10-18 years to cultivate the mindset and skills needed to thrive in today’s ever evolving world. Through a series of 1-1 coaching sessions, custom-made exercises, and empowering resources, every child is guided on their very own transformative journey where they learn how to embrace both the opportunities and adversities that lie ahead. By dismantling the limiting beliefs they have about themselves, their abilities and how the world works, every child is guided to identify and overcome internal barriers and realise the potential they have within themselves.
